SUMMARY:Ethel Community Barge Trip
DESCRIPTION:As part of our membership activities\, we have accessible canal boat trips with the wonderful Ethel and Pearl barges\, belonging to the Ethel Trust Community Barges. There is no cost for our members and their loved ones to book on\, and family members and support workers are more than welcome to join in! \nThis Friday 15th May is your chance to go on the Ethel Barge. It’s a wonderfully unique way to see South Yorkshire\, and you can also enjoy meeting other members. \nOur day out will start at Victoria Quays in Sheffield\, then we’ll head on an adventure through the beautiful canals of South Yorkshire. A picnic lunch and refreshments will be provided. Trained volunteers skipper the Pearl Barge\, who have experience working with a diverse range of needs. There are lifts at the front and rear for accessing the canal boat\, as well as accessible toilets on board. \nThere is a limit of 12 guests on the boat\, so book your place today!

Please email events@shasbah.co.uk to be added to the waiting list for cancellations.  \nWe’re hosting a residential trip to Bendrigg for our members aged 8–25 this coming October. This is a fantastic opportunity for our younger members with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus to experience adventure and activities fully supported by the expert team and facilities at Bendrigg. So\, come and join us for a wheelchair accessible weekend of unforgettable experiences! \nAbout Bendrigg \n‘You might be told on a regular basis what you can’t do when you have a disability\, but we’re here to tell (and show) you what you can do.’  Bendrigg \nBendrigg Trust Activity Centre is based in Kendal in the Lake District\, with access to stunning lakes\, rivers\, crags\, fells and caves. This fantastic organisation has over 45 years of experience providing outdoor adventure activities for people with disabilities\, both on and off site\, and we’re thrilled to be working with them again this year. \nDuring your stay\, you’ll have the opportunity to experience activities such as abseiling\, cycling\, campfire\, bushcraft\, star gazing\, zip wire\, tube slide\, sensory room and swing\, disco\, and art and crafts.  \nDates and cost \nDates: Two nights from Friday 9th October (arriving by 4pm) to Sunday 11th October (leaving at 3pm).  \nCost: FREE\n \nTravel: You will need to arrange your own transport there and back. Lifts and car shares may be possible\, so please let us know when completing the booking form if you wish to give or receive a lift. \nAll food and pre-booked activities are included. DESCRIPTION:Join us at our SHASBAH “Fond Farewells and Hearty Hello’s” Indoor Family Picnic and AGM on Saturday 24th October from 11-1pm. Bring along your picnic packups and we’ll provide the refreshments. There will be a sensory area provided. \nOur event is for the whole SHASBAH community to enjoy together\, and a chance to let everyone know our latest developments and what’s happening next! Come along for a chance to catch up\, meet new faces and celebrate our wonderful community together. \nOur special event will be hosted at the Bamforth Building in the Burton Street Foundation\, Hillsborough. DESCRIPTION:Digging Deeper Youth Group  \nDigging Deeper is our youth group for young people aged 8–25 living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus\, bringing members together to make friends\, have fun\, and enjoy new experiences. The group meets in term time and is completely free to attend. Siblings aged 8 and over are very welcome to join us too! We meet in different places each session\, from bowling to cinema and on-site activities at Burton Street Foundation in Hillsborough. \nTo find out the latest updates\, join our Digging Deeper WhatsApp group.
