April is here and lockdown is slowly easing. We're free to get out and about…
Spring is coming and lockdown is slowly easing. Hopefully, March will bring us more opportunities to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. There are also some fun events and celebrations this month, including Mother’s Day and World Book Day. Read on for inspiration for things to do in and around Sheffield this month.
1. Go on a Treasure Trail
Treasure Trails are small booklets which leads you on a self-guided treasure hunt through your local area. They give you clues to solve and the answers are found in the area you are exploring. Each trail usually takes around 2 hours to complete. We think this could be a great way to spice up your daily exercise!
Remember to follow lockdown rules when leaving the house. This means that you should only choose to go on a Treasure Trail that is within your local area. In South Yorkshire, there are trails in Sheffield City Centre, Barnsley, Doncaster and Wentworth.
For more information, see the Treasure Trails website.
2. Join a Dance4All class
Sheffield Cycling4All have been organising some great accessible online exercise classes all through lockdown. The latest one caught our eye – who doesn’t love dancing, especially when no one can see you!
Dance4All classes are running on Fridays at 12pm on Zoom. For more information and to book your place, check their Facebook page here. They also have weekly Boxercise4All and Yoga4All classes, so there really is something for everyone! All of these classes are free of charge.
3. Dress up for World Book Day
World Book Day is this Thursday 4th March! It’s such a fun opportunity every year to dress up as your favourite book character and celebrate reading. There are lots of activities to get involved with here.
This year, we’re running a competition to WIN a free book and Shasby gift. Send your World Book Day costume photos to email@example.com to enter.
World Book Day are also running a competition to design a book token, which you can find more info about here.
4. Make a Mother’s Day card
Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday 14th March. This is a friendly reminder to get cracking with a present and card for your Mum! Why not show how much she means to you by making your own card this year? Click here for some inspiration.
Most of us will be buying our gifts online this year, so why not go through Give As You Live and raise money for SHASBAH at the same time? They will donate a percentage of your purchase to our charity. Choose from shops such as M&S, John Lewis, Photobox and more.
5. Share a smile for Red Nose Day
Did you know that Red Nose Day is on Friday 19th March? It’s always such an inspiring and heart-warming day. To get involved, download your Share a Smile poster here. Write your favourite joke and stick it in the window to cheer up everyone who walks past.
